Seeker Wall Poll – Please answer this brief poll!

Hey Seeker fans!

To those who have been asking, YES, we were able to send a Seeker Wall photo book to ABC and another one for Sam Raimi and Rob Tapert. :D We want to know if fans are interested in ordering these photo books for themselves. We’re still trying to iron out some details so we really can’t announce anything definite yet, but we’re hoping that we could send more photo books to cast members in the future.

Here is a very short poll. Please feel free to share this with our fellow fans.

Thank you very much for your support. We shall save our Seeker! :)

/EDIT: Ordering a photo book would not generate SeekerWall.com any profit. All proceeds will go to the photo book company, Mixbook.com

Seeker Wall Video

Thanks to @12EMMAxx and Kenny Woods’ wonderful music, a nice little video using the Seeker Wall photos has been made. These were the first 200+ submissions, majority of which (about 205) were included in the photo book that was sent to ABC, Sam Raimi, and Rob Tapert a few weeks ago.

I really think it’s wonderful how 200+ photos were made to fit in a 3-minute video! Thanks, Emma! :)

Enjoy.

Remember that submissions are still open for the Wall. We are planning for some more stuff to come [hint: photo book related], so please keep sending in your photos! Check out the FAQsection for more information.

State of the Seeker Wall

Sorry for the lack of twitter updates these past few days. It has just been recently brought to our attention that the twitterfeed is broken. A lot of new photos have been added to the Wall, so please feel free to look around! A good number of email submissions have been posted, as well.

A little update on the Photo Book: the first one has been sent to ABC. We got lucky and received a coupon for a free complimentary copy. The said copy is on its way to Sam Raimi and Rob Tapert. :P As mentioned before, the URL has been placed prominently all over the Book to encourage the recipients to visit the website and see the photos in all their glory, so keep sending in your photos!

queenb13 asked if there is a way for you guys to order copies of  the photo book for yourselves. I’m still trying to find out if there is a way. Once I do, I’ll let you all know.

Other Projects

Seeker fan Veepu has asked to use our Wall photos for a mosaic project. The details could be found here. If you do not wish to have your photo(s) shared, please send us an email and include a copy of your submission(s) for easy identification.

Lastly, a video using Seeker Wall photos is in the works. More details to come soon. If you would like to opt out, again, email is the best way to do so.

DEADLINE: Monday 10PM Eastern Time

As mentioned previously, we are going to turn the Wall photos into a book to be sent in to ABC/Disney. Time is of the essence here, so we’re requesting that fans who have not sent in their photos yet to please send them in by Monday, May 24, 2010 @ 10PM Eastern Time. If you can’t post them here, email them to [email protected]

But if yours doesn’t get in by the deadline, don’t worry. We’ll have the URL front & center so ABC/Dinesy could visit the Wall & see the pics.

Once again, thank you very much for all that you do!

We shall save our Seeker!

We’ll need a deadline Soon. Please submit photos ASAP!

Hey everybody, thanks for all the submissions and awesome feedback! We’ve passed the 100th photo mark, and we have about 103 or 104, the last time I checked.

We reached 20,000+ visits in a span of 7 days, so that’s not too shabby. :)   We have about 1,000 returning visitors, but have only received 103 or 104 submissions. Please submit if you haven’t. We need to post a deadline soon, I’m afraid. Read on to find out why.

It has been suggested many times that the photos should be sent to ABC. As I said in the FAQ, I originally intended for the Wall to serve simply as an online repository while fans individually sent in their photos, but I was convinced otherwise. I’m sorry I didn’t plan this out sooner. However, I did get help from Dianne from the FB group with planning and details. Also, one of the Seeker Wall’s editors, winettemay, gave some ideas as well. I’ve decided I could get the photos printed as a photo book using a neat website Karen from the SOS.com Team suggested called Mixbook.

Dianne suggested that the photo book design could look like a Journey Book, and thankfully, Mixbook is flexible enough to allow that. I’ve actually started working on it right now and I’ve looked at the costs.

An 8.5″x11″ portrait layout photo book (like the Journey Book, I suppose) costs:

++++++++Softcover
Price:
$15.99 USD for 20 pages*
Additional pages:
$0.80 USD each, 99 max.

Hardcover
Price:
$23.99 USD for 20 pages*
Additional pages:
$0.80 USD each, 99 max.

* 20 pages = 10 sheets+++++++

So that’s not too bad!  :) At 100 pictures and with the current layout of 2-3 photos to a page, I’m thinking we’ll end up with a 30 to 50 page book with what the Wall has right now. That’s 100 submissions in 7 days, so we get about an average of 15 submissions per day. If fans continue submitting photos at this rate even after another announcement regarding a deadline is made, I’m estimating we’ll end up with 175 photos total, which would still amount to just about 60 to 80 pages. I’ll make sure that the site URL is front and center, so that even if not everybody’s photos get in, the recipient would hopefully visit the site and see everything him/herself.

Of course, the sooner we get this thing printed off and mailed, the better. However, I’ve read from many places that people are still planning on their Seeker Wall photos. Like dz93x5 orwaterfly89, for example. Please let me know the status of your photo planning.  Please post suggestions here as well. If anyone wants to volunteer with any aspect of the photo book, please do so.

Everyone has been amazing. Personally, it has been an exhausting & sleepless week, but what you all did, are doing, and are planning to do makes it all worthwhile.

On Site Errors and Some Suggestions

First of all, thank you very much for the overwhelming support that the Legend of the Seeker fandom has given this project. In fact, the outpouring of love and support has been overwhelming that the site has been experiencing increased server load with all the image upload activity and has been down a few times today. I greatly apologize for the latter. The good news is I’ve worked on beefing up the site’s resources (didn’t move webhosts yet, contrary to earlier plans). If the problem gets worse, however, I may have to purchase a better web hosting package, and in order to do that, I might need to put up some advertisements (MIGHT–so far, everything’s going well). Rest assured, the ad revenue is going to be used to pay for this site’s needs. If you have any suggestions or concerns, please leave a comment or shoot us an email.

Speaking of suggestions, it has been suggested that the photos uploaded to this site be sent as a package to ABC. I’m all for this idea. The original plan for the Wall was to have it act as an online repository of all the personal fan photos that LotS fans are going to mail in or are in the process of being mailed in to ABC. If you are going to submit a photo in here, we are requesting that you snail mail it to ABC as well. But please do leave some suggestions in the comments! We’d love to hear them!

Some fans would like to know the people running the Wall. Well first, there’s me, pamQ. I built this thing, but all of you made it. :) caraforever has been a valuable editor from the very beginning, helping me from approving entries, to site publicity. Newer faces have joined the team, namely winettemay and manuela0601. They have both been very helpful and have made the workload easier. If you need immediate assistance, feel free to check out this twitter list and send any of us a tweet. Hopefully, at least one of us would be online by then.
